A rainy/sunny/windy/freezing day in Georgetown saw the Dragons and North Halton complete their pre-season games.
The first was a close encounter with a weak try conceeded by the Dragons, followed almost immediately by a steal against the head (Sean "Futzy" Fitzpatrick)at the scrum, a confident No. 8 pick (Brecan "Arthritis" Nason), a nifty dish to scrum-half (Andy "it's a long way down" Braunston) and then some of the pretty girls in the backs finished off with a pirouette and a pointe tendu for the try.
Following the hard fought tie (7-7) in their penultimate pre-season game the Dragons struggled in their final encounter before the regular season. Reduced Dragons numbers (23) allowed North Halton's two full squads to take an early lead in the opening minutes of the game.
Fresh North Halton legs attacked the space behind the scrum to good effect. Nonetheless, the Dragons fought back and gave a good, if a bit weary, account of themselves for the remainder of the game to finish 12-28.
The Dragons look forward to the regular season's games, confident that with a full squad the game will be far more competitive.
